Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 (Wednesday) - Delhi

Your royal journey begins at Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi, the capital city of India, known for its rich, valorous, and exotic history. Arrive before 16:00 for check-in, where you’ll be welcomed with a traditional ceremony including garlanding, tikka, and a turban.

 

The train’s crew will guide you to your cabin and serve a welcome drink. As you settle in, they’ll brief you on the train’s amenities.

 

The Palace on Wheels departs for Jaipur at 18:30. Enjoy your first dinner aboard in either “The Maharajah” or “The Maharani” restaurant, then retire to your cabin for the night as the train continues its journey.

Day 2 (Thursday) - Jaipur

The first stop of the Palace on Wheels is Jaipur, one of the most well-planned cities of its time. This capital city of Rajasthan, popularly known as the Pink City, was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727 A.D. The train reaches Jaipur railway station in the morning.  

Breakfast will be served on the train at 7:00.  By 8:00, vehicles will be ready for the excursion. Upon disembarking, you’ll receive a traditional Rajasthani royal welcome with garlands, the Kali Ghodi dance, and more.

Before lunch, you’ll visit prominent attractions such as the Albert Hall Museum, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, and others.  Lunch will be served at 13:30 at the 1135 AD restaurant inside Amber Fort.

 

 

After lunch, the exploration of Amber Fort continues with an elephant ride. By 17:00, you’ll have the opportunity to shop at Jaipur’s local markets, famous for jewelry, handicrafts, and trinkets. Return to the train by 19:00, where dinner will be served at 19:30. The train departs for Sawai Madhopur at 20:00. Overnight stay on the train.

Day 3 (Friday) : Sawai Madhopur / Chittorgarh

Sawai Madhopur is home to the popular Ranthambore National Park, one of the beautiful cities of Rajasthan. Within the park, a fort enhances its beauty and is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Chittorgarh is a famous city in Rajasthan, situated on the banks of the Gambhiri and Berach rivers. 

It is known for its bravery, romance, and royalty. The city was once the capital of Mewar and boasts various attractions such as remarkable ruined castles, magnificent forts, and grand structures. The city has seven entrances.

The train reaches Sawai Madhopur in the morning. The early morning jeep safari is the highlight of Ranthambore National Park, so the day will start quite early on Friday. The excursion begins at 6:00 in the morning (before breakfast). Upon reaching Ranthambore, your vehicle will be ready for the safari to experience the majestic tiger and other flora and fauna.

 

After the safari, you will return to the train and be served breakfast at 10:00 in the morning. As you dine, the train will depart at 10:20 towards the next destination, Chittorgarh. Lunch will be served during the journey.

 

The train will arrive at Chittorgarh by 15:00. After a brief rest, sightseeing will commence at 16:00, where you will explore the stunning Chittorgarh Fort, which still resonates with the stories of Rajputana bravery. After exploring the fort, you will be taken to a restaurant inside the fort for high tea and other refreshments. The sound and light show at the fort will begin at 18:00.

 

You will return to the train by 20:00 for a delicious dinner, which will be served immediately. The train will remain at the railway station overnight. Enjoy your overnight stay on the train.

 

Day 4 (Saturday): Udaipur - The City of Lakes

Your next destination is Udaipur, fondly known as the ‘City of Lakes.’ Founded by Maharana Udai Singh II, Udaipur is often hailed as the most romantic city in Rajasthan, set against a picturesque backdrop. The city is renowned for its Rajputana palaces and tranquil lakes.

 

The train will depart from Chittorgarh in the morning and arrive in Udaipur by 7:00 AM. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 AM. 

After a brief rest, the sightseeing tour of Udaipur will begin at 9:00 AM. Before lunch, you will visit Saheliyon Ki Bari, the City Palace, Crystal Gallery, and have time for shopping.

Around 1:00 PM, you will head to Fateh Prakash Hotel for a delicious lunch. By 2:00 PM, you will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola to reach Jag Mandir Palace, where high tea will be served.

Return to the train by 3:30 PM, where evening tea will be served promptly. After a brief rest, the train will depart for Jaisalmer at 4:00 PM. You will spend the night on board, with a delicious dinner served on the train.

 

Day 5 (Sunday): Jaisalmer - The Golden City

Jaisalmer is renowned worldwide as the Golden City of Rajasthan, named for its iconic Jaisalmer Fort. The city was established by the Rajput ruler Maharawal Jaisal Singh in 1156 AD and named after him. Jaisalmer is also famous for hosting an annual Desert Festival, attracting numerous tourists.

 

The train will arrive in Jaisalmer at 9:00 AM. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 AM, allowing you time to dine and take a brief rest before starting your sightseeing at 9:30 AM. In the morning, you will visit Gadisar Lake, Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli, Patwon Ki Haveli, Jaisalmer Fort, and enjoy a Heritage City Walk.

 

You will return to the train for lunch. After lunch and a brief rest, you will head out for a camel safari at the Sam Sand Dunes at 4:00 PM.

 

Following the safari, tea will be served before you return to the train, arriving by 7:00 PM. After a quick refreshment, you will be taken to Gorbandh Palace for dinner with a live cultural program. You will return to the train for an overnight stay by midnight, as the train will immediately depart for Jodhpur.

 

Day 6 (Monday): Jodhpur - The Blue City

Jodhpur, once the capital city of Marwar, is popularly known as the ‘Sun City’ and the ‘Blue City.’ It is one of the most popular tourist destinations, located near the Thar Desert. The city is home to numerous magnificent forts that should be visited at least once in a lifetime.

 

The train will arrive at Jodhpur railway station in the morning, and breakfast will be served as usual at 7:30. By 9:00, the coaches and cars will be ready for the excursion. Before lunch, you will explore the famous attractions of Jodhpur, including Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada, and, if time permits, shop at the local markets.

Lunch will be served at the luxurious Ajit Bhawan Palace by 13:30. You will return to the train by 16:00.

The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the amenities and facilities on board. The train will depart for Bharatpur at 16:30. Dinner will be served on board at 19:30. Overnight stay in the train.

 

 

Day 7 (Tuesday): Bharatpur / Agra

Bharatpur, once the former capital of the Jat Kingdom, is a popular tourist destination also known as Lohagarh. The city is home to the famous Keoladeo Ghana National Park, better known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, a paradise for bird watchers from around the world.

 

 

The Mughal city of Agra, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, is mentioned in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. The city boasts three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, being the major attraction. Agra offers a perfect blend of old and new cultures.

The train will arrive in Bharatpur early in the morning. At 6:30 AM, you will embark on an early morning excursion to Keoladeo National Park, also known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, for a rickshaw safari (before breakfast). This sanctuary is a haven for bird watchers, where you can observe 380 resident and migratory bird species.

After the safari, you will return to the train by 8:45 AM, and breakfast will be served shortly. As you dine, the train will depart for the final attraction of the itinerary, Agra, at 9:00 AM. The train will reach the marble paradise by 11:00 AM, and you will immediately begin an excursion from Agra Cantt railway station.

Before lunch, you will proceed to explore Agra Fort. Lunch will be served at a deluxe hotel at 1:30 PM. By 3:00 PM, you will visit the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, for exploration and sightseeing. The rest of the day, until 6:00 PM, is dedicated to shopping. Afterward, you will return to the train.

Dinner will be served at 7:30 PM while the train remains stationed in Agra. At 8:45 PM, the train will commence its final journey of the itinerary towards Delhi. The rest of the evening is free for tourists to explore the train.

 

 

Day 8 (Wednesday) : Delhi

The train reaches Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station by 2:30 PM. Breakfast will be served by 6:00 AM, and checkout formalities start at 7:30 AM. Once the formalities are completed, you will be allowed to de-board the train at your own pace and continue with your vacation, if desired.

 

 

Pricing

Prices for the Palace on Wheels vary by season and by whether you choose single or double occupancy. The Palace on Wheels starter fare is USD 6048 per person based on double occupancy in the low season.
The below fares are divided into lean season (April and September) and peak season (October to March) and remain valid until April 2025.
There are no departures from May to August.
Note that departures on certain dates, including seasonal specials, incur additional costs.
Fares include accommodation, all meals and non-alcoholic drinks, sightseeing tours, entrance fees for monuments and palaces, one camel ride at Jaisalmer, one shared jeep safari at Ranthambore, one boat ride at Udaipur and one rickshaw ride at Bharatpur bird sanctuary.

Note:

  • Goods & Service Tax (GST) will be charged extra as per the Government Rule.
  • 75% of the adult tariff will be charged for children 05- years and more but less than 12 years of age.
  • 15% of the adult tariff will be charged for the children below 05 years.
  • The INR (Indian Rupees) tariff will be applicable the guests having any one of these Indian Identity proof (Passport / OCI card / Voter id )

  • The tariff is inclusive of cost of travel, accommodation, all meals, sightseeing tours, entrance fee (excluding video camera fee) for monuments & palaces, entertainment, camel ride at Jaisalmer (Sam Sand Dunes), Jeep Safari at Ranthambore, boat ride at Udaipur (Lake Pichola) and rickshaw ride at Bharatpur bird sanctuary.
  • Jeep Safari on sharing basis at Ranthambore National Park.
  • Special Note : Guests traveling in super Deluxe cabin & Presidential suite the sightseeing and excursions will be provided by exclusive car and English speaking guide services during the journey.
  • The safari in Ranthambore will be provided on a sharing basis.

Exclusions (Fares Doesn't Includes)

Tariff does not include Liquor, Tips, Laundry services, Telephone calls, Video camera fees and any other items of personal nature.
The above Tariff is subject to change without notice. Goods & Service Tax (GST) is subject to change as per the government of India directives.

Cancellation Policy :

  • 10% of ticket value shall be deducted on cancellation between 120 to 90 days before the travel date.
  • 25% of ticket value shall be deducted on cancellation between 89 to 60 days before the travel date.
  • 50% of the ticket value shall be deducted on cancellation around 59 to 30 days before the travel date.
  • No refund shall be admissible in case the booking is canceled within 29 days before the departure date.

The minimum occupancy defined is 50% to run the operations, that is 17 cabins.

No show/ En route termination of tour/amendment :

No Show – In case of No Show / Non-arrival of the guest, refund or adjustment for future travel will not be applicable. The whole amount shall be treated as forfeited. En route termination of tour – In case of En route termination of tour by the guest, for any reasons refund or adjustment for future travel will not be applicable. The amount for the unused portion of the tour shall be treated as forfeited. Amendment – Is only possible under the circumstances like Natural Disaster / Natural Calamity or Serious Health Problems (this needs to be supported by doctor’s certificate) and is subject to availability. No refunds are possible and every case will be decided on merits on a case to case basis. No amendment will be permissible in case of booking of groups or complete train.
